Durham Council Sponsors Statewide Media Awards for 2014

Motivateeducateinspire"Motivate, educate and inspire" are only a few of the objectives of The Garden Club of North Carolina and its statewide member garden clubs. Others objectives include:
  • To study, in all its aspects, the art of gardening, particularly horticulture, and to cooperate with agencies furthering such interest.
  • To encourage environmental improvement through civic development, beautification, restoration, and the protection and conservation of our natural resources.
  • To assist in educating the youth of North Carolina in the areas of garden club activity.
Awards are a small part of recognizing these efforts by North Carolina garden clubs. The Durham Council of Garden Clubs felt the need to create two awards that specifically celebrate the electronic and web-based communications by state garden clubs to promote these objectives.

Awards for "Website" and "Blog and Social Media" were approved at the Fall Board Meeting in Charlotte on September 15, 2014. The new media awards will fall under the category: Press Books, Publications and Media Awards.
